More than 15 teams participated in the inaugural Southwest Chapter Chili Cook-off held at Inland Truck Parts in Irving, Texas in early 2012. Judges Richard Duffy of The ESOP Association, Mac Haik of Ford Motor Company, and Chad Guzinski of Blue Ridge ESOP Associates had their hands full as judges of the competition. After much tasting and lots of water to cool down the taste buds, the judges selected Austin Bridge & Road (an Austin Industries company) as the winner with second place going to Hisco, Houston and third prize going to Hisco, Dallas.
Thanks to Develda Birkert at Vermeer Texas-Louisiana and Butch Selby from Inland Truck Parts for organizing the event. Inland Truck Parts provided the space inside their shop, tables, chairs, and all the trimmings. The Inland Truck parts team of Mickey, Bill, Cris, Juan, Larry and Charlie helped Butch Selby with the event and provided all the chili fixins for the employee owners who came to the event which numbered over 135 people.
The Southwest Chapter includes members from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
