European Union May Create Centers for Employee Ownership in European Union Countries

According to Marc Mathieu, the secretary general of the European Federation of Employee Share Ownership (EFES), the European Union will vote in a budget hearing for a pilot project that would create a Center for Employee Ownership for each European Union member state. This new project is a result of a public hearing held by the European Parliament on March 22, 2012. For more information about the Public Hearing, please see page eight of the May 2012 issue of the ESOP Report.

The Employee Ownership Foundation, which is a member of the EFES, has sent a letter encouraging this new development.

“We are pleased to see this stepping stone for more employee ownership forming in the European Union,” said Employee Ownership Foundation President, and ESOP Association President, J. Michael Keeling.
